Did you know that May is National Car Care Month? That’s right! And with May just around the corner, now is the best time to give your ride the TLC it deserves. You rely on your vehicle to get you to work every day, pick up the kids from school, get groceries, and just generally transporting you through your daily life.
So prepare yourself for May and give your car, truck, or SUV the attention it so richly deserves by following these 6 simple tips!
#1 – Toss Out Your Junk
Chances that over the course of winter, your vehicle has picked up a few extra items along the way: heavy snow chains, antifreeze bottles, snow brushes, extra winter clothes. Well, now’s the time to clear all that junk out! Now that spring has sprung, you don’t need all that junk in your trunk – so toss it out! Not only will this help clear space in your vehicle, but removing all that dead weight will improve your fuel economy as well!
#2 – Clean It, Clean It Good
Like most drivers, chances are you haven’t given your vehicle a good cleaning since last fall. After all, why would you waste your time getting your vehicle spotless only to immediately get it dirty again in the slush and snow? Well, now that the snow’s receded and the roads are dry, give your pride-and-joy a cleaning that will last! Make sure to pay special attention to the wheel wells and arches where dirt and grime tend to accumulate, causing rust.
#3 – Break Out the Vacuum
Now it’s time to vacuum the insides of your vehicle! Dirt, sand, salt, and other debris has undoubtedly made its way into your car during the winter months. Make your vehicle looking like new by vacuuming out all this foreign material. A normal vacuum should suffice, though most car washes also offer a powerful shop-vac for a fee. Take the time to clean all the various nooks and crannies so your vehicle looks and feels new again. Also consider adding an air freshener so your car smells like new too!
#4 – Wash, Wax, and Polish
As we mentioned before, the snow, cold, and salty roads of winter tend to strip your vehicle of its protective wax coating. If not replaced, this can lead to premature rusting (and nobody likes rust). So now that May’s just around the corner, there’s no better time to break out the wax and a little bit of elbow grease. Or, if you prefer to leave the grunt-work to us, contact our Detailing Department to schedule an appointment!
#5 – Top off the Fluids
Winter is draining on your vehicle, and chances are many of its essential fluids could use a top-off. Things like windshield wiper fluid, brake fluid, and engine oil and are easy enough to replace yourself. Our Parts Department carries all the correct fluid for your vehicle. Though if you’d prefer to leave these jobs in the hands of a capable professional, our Service Department is always on hand to help!
H2 – #6 Stop Putting Off Those Repairs
Last, but certainly not least, its high-time you stopped procrastinating on those repairs your vehicle has needed for a while. Perhaps it’s some burnt-out taillight bulbs you swore you’re replace, or a creaking sound from the suspension that you’ve been hoping would just go away. Whatever the issue is, make an appointment today and let our team of factory-trained mechanics sort out these issues. Many people shirk the upfront costs of repairs, but regular maintenance helps keep your car, truck, or SUV in top condition (and prevent costlier repairs in the future).
